MANILA, Philippines — Social media platform TikTok has joined the yearend data frenzy by unveiling its top artists and songs used on its videos for 2025.
TikTok has embraced its identity as the launchpad for viral tracks, with artists like Alex Warren, Lola Young and sombr earning virality through the platform this year.
Relatively older tracks managed to be reintroduced all the same, such as the Black Eyed Peas' "Rock That Body" and Rihanna's "Breakin' Dishes" as users first heard and streamed them on TikTok.
With more than 30 billion views and 12 million creations using their music on TikTok, global girl group Katseye — featuring Filipina leader Sophia Laforteza — was deemed TikTok's Global Artist of the Year, mostly thanks to hit tracks "Gnarly" and "Gabriela."
"Gnarly" was Katseye's first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and the global dance trend the group created was attempted by the likes of Le Sserafim, Tomorrow x Together, and Camila Cabello, resulting in 2.4 million creations and 13.5 billion views.
The dance trend "Gabriela," on the other hand, sparked 2.8 million creations and almost 10 billion TikTok views, hitting No. 7 on Spotify's Global Top 50 chart and earning Katseye a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance to go with its Best New Artist nod.
"We had an unforgettable year on TikTok, and it was all because of the EYEKONS who showed up for us every single day," Katseye said in a statement. "You turned our songs, our moments, and our chaos into something truly global, and we are so grateful for this community."
Following Katseye on TikTok's Global Artists list this year were Mexican artist Alan Arrieta, K-pop group Enhypen, and Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny who topped Spotify's artist list. Another Korean boy band, Stray Kids, rounded out the Top 5.

Fuerza Regida, meanwhile, was sandwiched between female pop stars: Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga ranked above Regional Mexican band while Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande placed below it.
TikTok's Top Global Song for 2025 is the true definition of rediscovered classics as it was originally released back in 1962 — "Pretty Little Baby" by the late Connie Francis.
The song was used more than 28 million times for wholesome videos featuring family, pets, relationships, and flowers, good for over 68 billion views. A video by Kylie Jenner with her daughter Stormi earned 132 million views alone.
Connie joined TikTok earlier this year before passing away on the heels of "Pretty Little Baby" becoming a viral hit, thanking the platform in her first post on the platform.
"I'm flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of pretty little baby is making all over the world," Connie said at the time. "To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations of audiences is truly overwhelming for me."
Just behind "Pretty Little Baby" on the TikTok's Top 20 Global Songs of 2025 list was Jess Glynne's "Hold My Hand" which went viral because of a Jet2holidays advertisement.
The previously mentioned "Rock That Body," J Balvin's "Azul," and "Dame Un Grr" by Fantomel and Kate Linn completed the list's Top 5.
Other notable songs that figured on the list were "APT." by Bruno Mars and Blackpink's Rose, "Anxiety" by Doechii, "Sailor Song" by Gigi Perez, "Sparks" by Coldplay, and "That's So True" by Gracie Abrams.

TikTok also noted data through the Add to Music app, which allows users to save a track or album they found on TikTok to listen on other streaming services, resulting in more than three billion tracks saved.
sombr's "Back to Friends" — which was No. 14 on the global songs list — was the most-saved track after being used in more than 7.7 million creations and 21.7 billion video views.
The song hit a billion streams on Spotify last October, paving the way for sombr's debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and Best New Artist Grammy nomination.
The most-saved artist was Taylor Swift while the most-saved album was Tate McRae's "So Close To What."
TikTok also recognized Korean artist EJAE as its Songwriter of the Year following her contributions to the record-breaking hit "Golden" from "KPop Demon Hunters."
EJAE has contributed to fellow Korean stars like Red Velvet, aespa, Twice, and Fifty Fifty over the years but it was "Golden" that truly magnified her skills as a writer and vocalist, following 9.8 million creations and 23.6 billion views.
Tracy Gardner, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, said in a statement that the platform has "become the industry's most powerful engine for music discovery, the place where beloved classics find a second life, and new voices break through," noting that female artists mostly dominated this year's lists.
"TikTok connects global audiences to the artists and the music they love, and that ability to spark fandom for every kind of artist and genre is what continues to set us apart," she ended.
