Kylie Padilla admitted in a recent vlog that she was not ready to get married with Aljur Abrenica back then.
The Sparkle star sat down with her aunt Bb. Gandanghari for an interview, where she opened up about her struggles as a single mother and her failed marriage with Aljur.
“I wasn't ready to get married. So I didn't really believe in marriage. But, to make everyone else happy, we got married,” Kylie admitted.
According to the actress, she was fine having a live-in setup with Aljur together with their baby because she knows that getting married is a different level of commitment.
“[Okay ako] to live with my baby daddy. Okay naman ako to try and make the relationship work. Alam ko naman kasi, very deep yung understanding ko na ibang commitment na talaga yung marriage,” Kylie said.
Kylie and Aljur got married in 2019. Their first son Alas was born in 2017.
“You really have to go through everything together, even the worst. Sickness and health 'di ba? When I was in the marriage, I didn't feel that part,” she shared.
When asked when was the breaking point of their marriage, the “Sang’gre” star answered it was during the pandemic.
“Yun sabi nila 'di ba? When pandemic comes, talagang nagharap kayo sa isa't isa, kasi wala nang... break. Na-test nga kami and we failed,” Kylie said.
Despite their fall out, Kylie said she never considered their marriage as a mistake because it gave them two angels: Alas and Axl.
“What a big mistake! I'm kidding! Hindi naman, hindi naman. Kasi may dalawang anghel naman [kami].” Kylie said.
“I've also forgiven myself. Nakapag-move na rin naman na siya,” she added.
Kylie and Aljur separated in 2021, three years after they tied the knot, with Kylie and the boys moving into a new home.
In 2023, Aljur admitted that he cheated on Kylie.
In September 2023, Kylie shared that she doesn't hold her sons back from seeing their dad and that she doesn’t want to put Aljur in a negative light.
Aljur is in a relationship with AJ Raval, while Kylie confirmed in July that she is in a relationship with a non-showbiz guy.
