Kymani Ladi during his one-and-done season with Ateneo in the UAAP.–MARLO CUETO/INQUIRER.net
MANILA, Philippines—Currently, Kymani Ladi is playing for the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
After the MPBL season, though, Ladi is hoping to see himself rise “to the next level.”
But as to where he ends up playing next is still up in the air.
“It’s not just the PBA but any league in general, I’m open to,” he told the Inquirer on Saturday during a basketball event in Tondo, Manila.
“I’m not going to go into the specifics, but I want to get into leagues like the B.League and the PBA. I just want to get to the next level and I just want to keep growing as a player.”
Ladi, fresh off a stellar one-and-done season with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 88, sharpened his game immediately by signing with Caloocan in the MPBL.
The 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 13.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for Caloocan.
Of course, before he could think about jumping to the next level, Ladi knows he still has a lot of work to do, including learning how to keep his emotions in check.
“I know I need to be more composed on the court, I think I show my emotions a bit too much but that’s just how I was raised to play, especially in the States.”
