MANILA, Philippines — Travel time from Parañaque to Bonifacio Global City in Taguig will be reduced to 15 minutes with the opening next month of a segment linking the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and C5 Road.
Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Segment 3B of the Cavitex-C5, a six-lane expressway spanning two kilometers, would open to motorists in March.
“Once it is finished and operational, travel time between the central business district at Bay City and Bonifacio Global City will be cut to just 10 to 15 minutes,” Olivarez said in his state of the city address on Monday.
“We see this as an urgent solution to traffic problems in and out of the city. This will provide relief to commuters who normally travel between 1.5 and two hours,” Olivarez added.
The 7.7-kilometer expressway is divided into four segments.
Segments 3A-1 (C5 to Merville), 3A-2 (Merville to E. Rodriguez) and 2 (Cavitex to Sucat Interchange) opened in July 2019, August 2022 and June 2024, respectively.
Segment 3B started construction in 2024 under a P3.3-billion deal between Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. and DM Consunji Inc.
