Leon Barretto wrote a moving letter for his older sister Claudia, who just got married to her longtime partner, Basti Lorenzo.
On Instagram, Leon posted a carousel of family photos from Claudia and Basti’s wedding, and began his caption saying he is still in disbelief that “My Claui just got married…”
Leon shared that from bumping heads when they were younger, they grew very close as they got older, even becoming "each other's confidant and go-to person."
“I’m truly grateful for how close we’ve become — knowing everything about each other without judgment, only love and comfort," Leon wrote.
He credited Claudia for teaching "me how to talk to girls properly, how to be a gentleman, how to respect the people around me, and so much more."
"You’ve guided me toward the right path and passed on life lessons I’ll forever hold and remember,” Leon said, listing Claudia's admirable strengths and informing her that "the love you give to your family and friends is unmatched."
“My only wish for you is to be loved the same way you love—so deeply, so genuinely,” he said.
Turning his attention to the newlyweds, Leon shared how Claudia's groom, Basti, has also seen him "through ever phase of my life over the past 10 years."
"I witnessed a rare kind of love between the two of you—one that stayed strong through adversity," he said. "Some people may not see it, but I do, and I know you’ve helped each other become the best versions of yourselves over the years."
Leon ended his letter telling Claudia that he will always be by her side.
“Even though someone else will now look after you, as your brother, I won’t ever let you go through life’s challenges alone. I am, and always will be, your biggest supporter and protector,” Leon said.
He added that he prays for their happy marriage.
“Continue to protect your peace and joy—don’t let anyone or anything take that away,” Leon said, as he welcomed Basti to their family."
In the comment section, Claudia could only write “I’m incredibly lucky to have you.”
Leon's letter comes after his father Dennis Padilla aired his grievances about his participation at Claudia's wedding on Ogie Diaz's YouTube channel, where he also said "a permanent goodbye" to his kids.
Leon and Claudia, and their older sister Julia are Marjorie Barretto’s children with Dennis. Through the years, the public would catch a glimpse of their strained relationship with their father, as in 2022 when Leon called out Dennis with a public letter after the actor-politician said that they did not greet him on Father’s Day.
Claudia and Basti got married in St. James the Great Parish in Muntinlupa City. The reception was held at Lakehall at Nena’s Sanctuary in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Shortly after, the Barretto siblings’ oldest sister Dani told Claudia, ““Don’t let anything or anyone dim the light of this moment.”
