Father Time remains undefeated in sports, but Manny Pacquiao looks set to take a bet against that claim one more time.
At the ripe age of 46, boxing’s only eight-division world champion dusts off his gloves for another salvo in the ring against Mexican-American fighter Mario Barrios, a boxer 16 years his junior.
Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) stands nearly four years removed from his last bout, a unanimous decision loss against Yordenis Ugas on August 21, 2021, that led to retirement. He’s also six years out from his last win via split decision against Keith Thurman on July 20, 2019.
Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs) and the Filipino boxing legend meet for the official weigh-in on Friday, July 18 (Saturday, July 19, Manila time) before the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title fight kicks off with the preliminary bouts on Saturday, July 19 (Sunday, July 20, Manila time).
