Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin holds a press conference a day after all Cabinet members submitted their courtesy resignations, as ordered by President Marcos

MANILA, Philippines – Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin calls a press conference on Friday, May 23, a day after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered all members of his Cabinet to submit their courtesy resignation because it was “time to realign government with the people’s expectations.”

Bersamin, whose position is often referred to as the “Little President,” were among those who handed in their courtesy resignations.

Marcos’ “bold reset” comes a week after a crushing loss for the administration’s Senate slate in the May 12 elections. At the same time, Marcos has seen his trust and approval numbers go down — with majority of Filipinos saying they neither trusted or approved of the President, according to a March 2025 Pulse Asia survey.
