MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the licenses of seven drivers for drunk driving.
After deliberations, the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division said the drivers violated the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Law.
The drivers all tested positive for alcohol, with their blood alcohol concentration levels above the legal limit ranging from 0.123 to 0.438 percent.
The drivers have also been involved in road crashes and traffic-related incidents, according to the LTO.
Prior to the revocation of the licenses, the LTO issued show-cause orders to the drivers and placed their vehicles on alarm status.
“We remain committed to protecting all road users from the dangers posed by driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs,” LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said. “The revocation of licenses is a clear message that reckless driving will lead to serious consequences.”
The LTO continues to prioritize the enforcement of the law against drunk and drugged driving as part of a broader road safety initiative, Lacanilao said.
