MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office has summoned actor-businessman Derek Ramsey for allegedly using a fake license plate on his Porsche supercar while traveling on public roads.

The LTO said it has verified that the license plates on the supercar, defined as a high-performance and street-legal sports car, featured an alphanumeric combination that is different from the original plate number.

Ramsey and the designated car driver were ordered to appear before the LTO intelligence and investigation division and to submit an explanation regarding the license plates and on why their licenses should not be suspended or revoked.

The LTO has placed the supercar, a Porsche 918 Spyder, under “alarm status” as it ordered the Law Enforcement Service to impound the vehicle.

“There are no VIPs when it comes to law enforcement. Regardless of who is involved, anyone proven to have committed a violation will face the corresponding consequences,” LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said. “There is no favoritism, no excuses and no exemptions. The LTO does not tolerate the use of fake license plates or the evasion of mandatory obligations.”

Lacanilao said neither a person’s status or name nor the value of the vehicle can serve as ground to evade the enforcement of regulations.
