In an official statement he shared over Instagram, Manzano said that while the results didn't go his way, the experience left him with a deeper connection to the people of the province.

Mas nakilala ko kayo, at iyon ay habang buhay kong babaunin," he said.

(My fellow Batangueños, even though we weren't fortunate with the outcome of the election, I still consider myself a winner — because of you. With every smile, story, and embrace you shared during the campaign, I felt the heartbeat of Batangas even more. I grew closer to you. I got to know you better, and that is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life).

Despite the defeat, Manzano remained optimistic and thanked everyone for guiding him through the campaign.

Maraming salamat po," he ended.

(Thank you to all the supporters, to my family, and most of all, to God who guided me throughout this journey. The campaign was full of energy and joy because I got to share it with you. And even though the election is over, this is only the beginning of a long journey we will continue together. Until we meet again — thank you very much).

Manzano ran alongside his mother, Vilma Santos-Recto, who won her gubernatorial comeback with more than 640,000 votes. However, Manzano fell short against outgoing Gov. Hermilando "Dodo" Mandanas, who will now serve as vice governor.

Manzano's post came after his wife, actress Jessy Mendiola, shared a reflective quote on social media about surrendering to God's bigger plans during uncertain times. "One of the greatest gifts is knowing that God's plans are always more beautiful than your disappointments," she wrote.

"HE will sustain you during your hardest battles and save you from harm's way because only HE knows what is meant for you," she added.
