When you think of M2M, songs like “Pretty Boy,” “Mirror Mirror,” and “Don’t Say You Love Me” immediately play in your head.
The songs of Norwegian pop duo Marit Larsen and Marion Raven do not just bring about waves of nostalgia, but are continually played at parties, featured in every ‘90s compilation playlist, and of course, sung at classic Pinoy jamming and karaoke sessions.
In an exclusive Zoom interview with GMA News Online, M2M said they are overwhelmed with the love of Filipino fans.
“We're like in awe that the Filipino fans have kept our music alive for so many years," Marion said.
She added that fans are so active in writing them messages and buying tickets to their concerts.
“You know, 8,000 tickets [sold] in 30 minutes. It's mind-blowing. So we're so happy. Yeah, thank you,” she said, adding that they “can’t wait” to have a full-blown concert in the Philippines.
M2M are set to have a two-night concert on May 1 and 2 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City as part of their The Better Endings Tour. They will then head to Davao's SMX Convention Center on May 3 and then Cebu's Waterfront Hotel on May 4.
During M2M's first visit in 2000, they only had mall showcases and visited variety shows.
“It was always our dream, and we're finally getting to meet our fans in this way," said Marit, noting that the experience of going on tour has been full of joy.
"We can say that this concert is so much fun to play, and these rooms have been so full of love. People are singing along at the top of their lungs, still remembering every word. So we're so excited to come back and play now for real," added Marit.
Since Filipinos are best known for singing along at concerts, Marion further teased that the set list is up on their Spotify page so fans can “practice, warm up their voices, you know, and we'll just kind of have fun.”
“We're just gonna have a big party,” she said.
Marion added that she will be learning some Tagalog words to greet M2M’s Filipino fans.
“Actually, one of my best friends, she's half-Filipino. So she's from Cebu, so I'm gonna ask her, you know, to [teach] me some," she said.
Marit told her, “This is your specialty. You're good at it.”
M2M is re-recording their greatest hits for their upcoming EP, “Still in My Dreams.” The track list includes “The Day You Went Away,” “Everything,” “Mirror Mirror,” “Pretty Boy,” and “Don’t Say You Love Me.”
The EP comes out on May 9 and is also the 25th anniversary celebration of their debut EP, “Shades of Purple.”
M2M teased their comeback by playing “The Day You Went Away” back in September 2024.
