BAGUIO CITY — Fresh from being reelected to a third term, Mayor Benjamin Magalong told cadet-athletes of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) that authentic leadership is about "intellect, grit, heart and the will to never give up."
This was the message of the mayor at the PMA Sports Achievement Awarding Ceremony on Wednesday, which recognized the outstanding athletes of Siklab Laya Class of 2025 for their discipline, strength and unwavering dedication.
Magalong, a PMA alumnus himself and a sports enthusiast, was the event's guest of honor and speaker.
"We salute the awardees for inspiring through example and proving that the strength of the body is as vital as the strength of the mind," he said.
The event honored the top cadet-athletes who excelled in archery, arnis, taekwondo, karate, judo, muay thai and boxing.

"You embody the PMA's holistic approach to leadership, physical excellence and teamwork," Magalong added.
The ceremony ended with a traditional boodle fight where the mayor, cadets and PMA officers shared a meal on equal footing and in the spirit of camaraderie.
