MANILA, Philippines — Former beauty queen Maggie Wilson said that “no amount of bots can rewrite her truth" after noticing trolls spamming her Instagram days before she releases her first book that tackles her story of survival and resilience.
Wilson shared that fake accounts have appeared and multiplied “overnight” after she announced the upcoming release of her book “The Confidence Blueprint.”
She posted screenshots of the trolls spamming her page. She also brought up how she exposed the troll farm and smear campaign against her in 2023.
“Someone out there is so terrified of a story they haven’t even read that they actually hired people to flood my comments with nonsense. That level of fear must be exhausting. Truly,” Maggie wrote in her Instagram post.
She addressed the personality behind the troll spamming and said that she hopes that person would “genuinely find peace.” Maggie said that she actually feels sorry for whoever is behind the fake accounts trolling her Instagram.
“This book is not a manifesto against marriage. It is a plea for common decency — for laws that allow people to leave harm and to form families without fear they will be punished for the rest of their lives. It is a manual for how to stand up again and how to speak loudly enough that the silent get heard. I’m writing these pages to give you a map I wish I had sooner. Use it. Change it. Pass it on. Confidence is a blueprint that grows when we build it together,” Maggie described the book on its publisher’s page.
The Filipina-British former beauty queen, who has been residing in Thailand, said that being attacked by trolls is not new to her, but Maggie said it will not stop her.
“If anything, it confirms that my story matters. People who are afraid of the truth will do anything to silence it, even hide behind fake profiles and copy-paste comments. Thank you to everyone who sees through the noise,” Maggie said.
