AN earthquake of 4.7 magnitude shook the province of Eastern Samar on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, happened around 6:10 a.m. some 17 kilometers (km) southeast of Dolores town, also in the province.
It had a depth of focus of 17 km, it added.
Initial report showed that Intensity 2 was felt by residents in Tacloban City, Leyte, while Instrumental Intensity 3 was recorded over Can-Avid, Eastern Samar.
Also, Instrumental Intensity 2 over the City of Catbalogan, Samar, while Intensity 1 in Kawayan, Biliran; City of Borongan, Eastern Samar; and Gandara, Samar, the agency said.

Both aftershocks and damage to infrastructure were unlikely from the latest Eastern Samar quake, Phivolcs said.
