CEBU CITY — Police arrested a 63-year-old man on Wednesday after he was caught in the act of manufacturing unlicensed firearms in Barangay Cahumayan, Danao City, Cebu.
Officers from the Danao City Police Station responded to a phone call around 12:45 a.m. that reported a person actively making firearms inside a hut in Purok Fatima, Sitio Portland.
They found the suspect, identified only as Agapito, assembling gun parts when they arrived.
Police seized a finished.45 caliber pistol, an unfinished pistol of the same caliber, several lower receivers, multiple magazines, and tools used for making guns, including a furnace, wrenches and pattern pieces.
Neighbors told police that Agapito had been making unlicensed firearms as his livelihood.

Cpt. Dunn Blane Tabares, spokesman of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), said the operation formed part of their intensified campaign against loose firearms in Danao City, which has long been known as a hub for illegal gun production.
He said the police regional director, BGen. Redrico Maranan, had directed them to crack down on illegal gun makers in the area, noting that Danao is widely known as a source of illegally manufactured firearms.
Agapito is now detained at the Danao City Police Station. He will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Commission on Elections gun ban.
