MANILA, Philippines — A man and his 11-month-old child died while his partner was injured after they were hit and pinned down by a truck in Quezon City yesterday.
The victims were traversing Congressional Avenue on a motorcycle when the accident occurred.
Police said the victims were struck by a dump truck at the corner of Luzon Avenue in Barangay Culiat.
The truck turned on its left side, pinning the victims who fell to the ground.
Responders used a forklift to pull out the victims. They were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center where the motorcycle rider, known only as Randel, and his child died.
Randel’s partner is recuperating from her injuries, police said.
The truck driver, whom police did not identify, is being held on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and damage to property.
