MANILA, Philippines — A 35-year-old man was arrested after he jumped over a Ninoy Aquino International Airport fence on Wednesday to meet his wife, an overseas Filipino worker returning from Austria.
Airside airport security personnel said the man entered Runway 06 at 4:09 p.m. and walked along the Link Road Aircraft Movement area without authorization.
Initial investigation showed that the man, who came from San Luis town in Aurora, jumped over the perimeter fence near the Duty Free Fiesta Mall area.
The man claimed that someone was following him, prompting him to run and jump over the fence and onto the runway.
The man said he was at the NAIA to pick up his wife who was returning from work in Austria. He was eventually able to reunite with his wife, but faces a charge for breach of security.
