MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos yesterday vowed to continue supporting development efforts in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao as he called for increased economic activities in the BARMM to improve the quality of life of the people.

In a speech during the celebration of the 7th founding anniversary of the BARMM at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City, Marcos said that there is so much work to be done for the region.

“We have come a long way, but there is still work to be done. Peace is a vital foundation for progress. It is our shared responsibility to harness peace to further develop the region,” the President said.

Marcos cited the development, strengthened institutions and the strong bond forged between the national and regional governments in the past seven years.

He assured residents that the government would help them every step of the way. He described the BARMM as a milestone in the country’s pursuit for lasting peace and unity.

Marcos urged BARMM officials to simplify business regulations to attract more investments.

He urged the people to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections, noting the vital role of democratic participation in shaping the future of the Bangsamoro region.

“It is our hope that the upcoming BARMM elections will serve as an opportunity for our Bangsamoro brothers and sisters to freely express their voices and aspirations,” Marcos said.
