Margarita Fores’ son, Amado Fores, wrote a message of gratitude to supporters following her death.
On Instagram, Amado posted a polaroid photo with the renowned chef.
“I love and miss you every day, Mom,” he wrote.
Amado said that although “this has been the most difficult and challenging time,” their family has been receiving love and support from people around the world, which “has meant so much to us.”
“Maybe that’s the unexpected blessing in all of this—seeing just how many lives she touched and how much love is now coming back to her,” he said.
Amado apologized that he hasn’t replied to every message yet, but said he appreciates each one of them.
“Thank you, and please keep her in your prayers,” he said.
Margarita, fondly called Chef Gaita, passed away in February due to cardiac arrest.
Tributes instantly poured in for Chef Gaita, from celebrities like Matteo Guidicelli and Judy Ann Santos, to foodies and content creators like Lumpia Queen Abi Marquez and Gabbi Garcia, and many more.
Wakes were held in February for family, friends, Margarita’s restaurant staff, and to the public.
Margarita is the restaurateur behind Cibo, Lusso, and Grace Park, among others. She has also cooked for top events and personalities such as the APEC leaders.
In 2016, she was named Asia's Best Female Chef.
