MANILA, Philippines — To accommodate all ferry passengers to Odiongan, Romblon and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro this season, the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) issued special permits for three additional vessels to ply the routes from Batangas port.
In a statement, Marina said it allowed MV Maria Erlinda to ply the Batangas-Odiongan route and the MV Asia Phil and MV November Cattleya the Batangas-Calapan route as over 1,200 passengers had registered for both destinations.
The three ships would reduce the number of passengers waiting at the Batangas port and nearby terminals, Marina said.
Earlier, Marina issued a “relaxation order” to allow shipping companies to adjust schedules, add more trips and increase the turnaround of their vessels from Dec. 16 to Jan. 11 next year to cater to passenger influx.
