MANILA, Philippines — Index crimes in Metro Manila slightly decreased in 2025, figures released yesterday by the National Capital Region Police Office showed.

The NCRPO recorded 6,386 index crimes last year, a drop of 3.34 percent from 2024.

Index crimes refer to the eight most prevalent crimes: theft, murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, car theft and motorcycle theft.

Authorities did not elaborate on the figures.

The NCRPO instead highlighted in its year-end report that it provided security for major events in Metro Manila such as the traslacion 2025, EDSA people power anniversary, Labor Day and the State of the Nation Address of President Marcos.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO last year dismissed from the sevicce 252 police personnel, demoted 19, suspended 312, forfeited the salaries of 13 and reprimanded 50.

Police arrested 14,717 suspects and seized P866 million worth of illegal drugs in anti-narcotics operations in 2025.

Over 2,700 loose firearms were seized in Metro Manila.

Authorities also nabbed 5,810 most wanted people and 9,224 wanted persons.
