MANILA, Philippines —  A 17-year-old mother is facing criminal cases after she was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly selling her one-month-old baby boy in Quezon City.

The girl was nabbed in a fast-food restaurant where she allegedly sold her baby to a police officer in exchange for P55,000.

Women and Children Protection Center director Brig. Gen. Maria Sheila Portento said the teenager initially offered the child for illegal adoption online for P50,000.

The girl told probers that she needed money for her tuition.

The infant was turned over to the city social welfare department.
