MANILA, Philippines — Motorcycle sales in the country rose by nine percent in the January to May period from a year ago, amid elevated fuel prices.
Data from the Federation of Asian Motorcycle Industries showed that the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) sold 811,397 motorcycles in the first five months of the year, higher than the 746,016 units in the same period last year.
MDPPA counts Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha as its members.
For the month of May, MDPPA’s motorcycle sales rose by 11 percent to 167,621 units from 150,781 units in the same month in 2025.
In terms of production, MDPPA’s motorcycle output from January to May went up by six percent to 631,630 units from 596,234 units in the same period last year.
In May alone, MDPPA’s motorcycle production climbed by seven percent to 127,998 units from 119,829 units in the same month a year ago.
