The breakout teen series "Ang Mutya ng Section E" comes to life on stage in a live musical event celebrating its original soundtrack. "Mutya OST: Live in Concert" is set for June 20 at the New Frontier Theater, featuring performances by OPM artists Earl Agustin, Rob Deniel, Amiel Sol, and P-Pop boy group GAT.

The concert — under the direction of veteran concert director Paul Basinillo — follows the runaway success of the series, which premiered on Jan. 3 on Viva One and quickly went viral on social media platforms like TikTok. It was based on the Wattpad book trilogy by Filipino author Lara Flores, known as Eatmore2behappy.

Ang Mutya ng Section E tells the story of Jay-Jay, the only girl in Section E, portrayed by Ashtine Olviga. The cast also includes Andres Muhlach as Mark Keifer Watson and Rabin Angeles as Yuri Hanamichi.

The teen romantic comedy has been praised for its youthful energy, relatable characters, and for introducing Filipino storytelling to a global audience.

A major part of the show's appeal lies in its music. Each song in the soundtrack deepens the emotions and enhances the storytelling — something the upcoming concert aims to showcase live.

Amiel Sol shared that his track "Sa Bawat Sandali" was chosen after its release.

"It was a good fit for the series because Sa Bawat Sandali is the kind of love you want for your friends and loved ones — the kind that feels like rest. I think it really fits Mutya ng Section E because it's all about friendship," Sol said during a media conference.

Rob Deniel, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude for having his song "Miss Miss" used in the final episode.

"My song Miss Miss was one of the tracks used during the ending of the series. It was a perfect fit because they ended with a happy scene, and I'm very grateful," Deniel said.

Meanwhile, Earl Agustin reflected on the personal inspiration behind his 2023 single "Tibok," which was also featured in the show.

"It's about love, and love is universal. It's a shared human experience. I think whatever love song it is, the story will find it. Personally, I'm very happy Tibok contributed to the series' story," Agustin explained.

GAT explained that their version of "Daleng Dale" was created specifically for the lead character's entrance.

"From the opening lyrics 'Sino siya ang lakas ng dating,' it already describes Jay-Jay because she's just entered the school. She's new and has a strong personality, which is why it was used as the intro," GAT's leader Ethan David said.

GAT also teased their upcoming debut single, adding, "We're a big part of the production since we helped write the songs — so fans should watch out for that."

With the concert just days away, the artists are all in on rehearsals and final preparations.

"So far we've arranged the songs we'll be performing. There are group numbers, and now we're just focused on practicing, mentally and emotionally preparing, and giving our best for the fans," Sol said.

Deniel added, "We've been rehearsing and finalizing our setlist. Of course, we don't want to disappoint the fans. We want to go all in on these songs so they'll enjoy the experience."

Concert director Paul Basinillo said the show will highlight each artist's unique style while showcasing the rising power of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

"We'll play to their strengths — what they naturally do.

He also teased the production's scale and polish. "So what to expect? We'll enhance their performances with production value. We've got a lot in store."

Basinillo noted how local music is gaining traction across digital platforms.

"It's a wonderful time — we're so happy. This is the future of OPM right in front of you. Before, so much foreign music dominated the space. Now, if you listen to platforms, most of the songs are OPM. With this concert, people will hear the music live, adding a whole new dimension. Watching them perform is part of your support for Filipino music," Basinillo added.

And for fans who can't get enough of "Mutya," there's more to look forward to.

"Book 2 is coming soon," GAT's David confirmed. "The Section E boys are still there — Jay-Jay, Yuri, and Keifer. What's exciting is we're adding new characters. Since it's Book 2, it explores the darker side. That's what fans should watch out for — lots of twists and a whole new story," he ended.
