MANILA, Philippines — There will be no sweeping reshuffle of senior Philippine National Police officials following the promotion of PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to a four-star general.
Nartatez said yesterday he wants to maintain stability in the PNP, although he stressed that leadership movements remain part of normal police service.
“There is no abrupt or sweeping reshuffle. Any movement will be orderly, well-planned and based on organizational needs,” he said.
Existing anti-crime and community safety directives remain in place, according to Nartatez.
To boost the morale of its personnel, the PNP released P661.2 million in anniversary bonus.
Nartatez said 220,400 uniformed personnel, non-uniformed personnel and cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy received P3,000 each.
Marcos to PNP: Enhance visibility
President Marcos called on the PNP to increase visibility and maintain public confidence as he highlighted its crucial role in a setting filled with higher expectations and more complex security risks.
In a video message for the PNP Day yesterday, Marcos said the police force has been tasked to keep communities safe, streets orderly and people secured.
Marcos said while crime rates have dropped and public safety programs are being enhanced, “what matters most is that families go home safe, businesses operate with confidence and communities feel protected.”
