The National Council for Children's Television (NCCT), in partnership with Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI), is launching four original programs under the banner "NCCT Originals" from March through April to promote self-empowerment among Filipino youth.
The titles aim to tackle pressing issues on mental health, sexual abuse, and self-empowerment that affect Filipino youth today, beginning with "Lakbay Isip" – a live-action animated web series following a teenage artist navigating post-pandemic adolescence with the help of her imaginary alter egos — which premiered on March 11.
"Tropa Peeps" was launched next on March 25, blending scripted drama and expert interviews to shed light on sexual abuse and exploitation among teenage boys.
Meanwhile, "OK Ako" presents a light drama trilogy infused with comedy and spoken word poetry, tackling mental health struggles among youth, and "Friendship Puzzles" explores scientific insights on mental health intertwined with real-life stories, focusing on depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention. They will premiere on April 12 and 26, respectively.
KCFI President and Executive Director Rina Lopez emphasized the significance of this collaboration. She said, "These programs of NCCT Originals align with our mission to provide educational and enriching content that helps young people navigate life's complexities."
