Negros Island Region leads Palaro medal tally with 5 golds

BUTUAN CITY – Negros Island Region (NIR) took the early lead in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa medals tally as competitions continued in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, on Tuesday, securing five gold, one silver, and two bronze medals as of 5:04 p.m.

Region 6 (Western Visayas) sits in second place with four gold, five silver, and five bronze medals. Region 14-A (Calabarzon) is third with four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. Region 5 (Bicol Region) follows in fourth with four gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.

The National Capital Region rounds out the top five with three gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.

This year’s host, Region 13 (Caraga), has so far secured one silver and three bronze medals based on the 5 p.m. medals tally.

Meanwhile, the city government of Butuan welcomed two bronze medal wins by local high school students.

Rayven Maratas from the Agusan National High School won bronze in Arnis Likha Anyo Individual Double Weapon Secondary Boys, while 13-year-old Kyle Gio Rosales also bagged bronze in Karatedo Secondary Category.  –PNA
