After the official release of the Nintendo Switch 2 teaser coming this year, there was a particular scene in the video where the Joy-Con appeared to be used like a mouse—sliding across a surface in a gesture similar to how a mouse functions.
At first, it was all speculation, but today, a newly surfaced patent confirms that this will actually be a feature for the Joy-Cons.

The patent primarily is in Japanese format, making it difficult to extract precise details. However, the images included in the documents show the Joy-Cons being used on both sides of the Nintendo Switch 2 in a mouse-like manner.
One Joy-Con appears to be used like a traditional controller, while the other functions as a pointing device.
It looks interesting, though it may not be the most comfortable way to use the console.
Another patent highlights a different feature—magnetic attachment for Joy-Con straps. While this doesn’t confirm previous rumors of Joy-Cons magnetically attaching to the console itself, it doesn’t disprove them either.
Additionally, an image in the patent shows a docking station, presumably for charging the Joy-Cons.
Given the teaser trailer and the details from these filings, the mouse functionality seems more likely to come to fruition. The magnetic attachments, on the other hand, remain up in the air.
