MANILA, Philippines — The country’s largest data center to date has achieved the second-highest facility rating, proving it can process applications and data even during maintenance periods.
PLDT Inc.’s data center developer VITRO Inc. yesterday announced that VITRO Sta. Rosa has received a TIA-942 Rated-3 Facilities Certification, confirming it has no single point of failure.
This means that VITRO Sta. Rosa — the country’s largest data center right now, with a capacity of 50 megawatts — is capable of accepting and sending data even during maintenance.
At Rated-3, any component in VITRO Sta. Rosa can be removed, replaced and repaired without disrupting its customers’ operations. The facility is secured with sufficient redundancy to run during both infrastructure expansion and unplanned maintenance.
On the contrary, lower-tier data centers are equipped with only one distribution path, exposing them to downtime during maintenance periods. A Rated-3 infrastructure like VITRO Sta. Rosa also means that it can withstand natural and man-made disasters.
VITRO president and CEO Victor Genuino said the certification places VITRO Sta. Rosa at the heart of the data center race in Southeast Asia, opening more opportunities for the Philippines.
“This certification is a testament to VITRO’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that global enterprises and hyperscalers can trust,” Genuino said.
