MANILA, Philippines — The sixth day of the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte is set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15.
Unlike in the previous proceedings, today's trial will not feature witness testimony.
This came after the House prosecution panel asked the Senate impeachment court on July 14 to dispense with the testimonies of Duterte's chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, and House of Representatives security official Capt. Belinda Bello.
The impeachment court is expected to hear oral arguments on the issuance of subpoenas for bank records, Anti-Money Laundering Council records, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) records of Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.
From July 13 to 14, National Bureau of Investigation Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc took the witness stand to testify on the charges against Duterte under Article IV of the Articles of Impeachment.
The article charges Duterte with grave threats and inciting sedition over the threats she allegedly made in October and November 2024.
Starting July 6, Article IV is expected to be tackled for 11 days, according to the House prosecution panel.
