MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered one of its Assistant Special Prosecutors to answer the claims of alleged Sara Duterte bagman Ramil Madriaga.
The Ombudsman sent a show-cause order to Assistant Special Prosecutor Ryan Rey Quilala, ordering him to explain within 48 hours why he should not be held liable.
“You are reminded that any proof of your participation in the alleged illegal activities with Mr. Madriaga may subject you to administrative and criminal prosecution,” the show-cause order read, dated April 15.
“This includes, but is not limited to, violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019) and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (RA 6713),” it added.
The summons stems from allegations made by Madriaga during the House Committee on Justice hearing on the impeachment against Duterte on April 14.
Madriaga alleged that he delivered money to former Ombudsman Samuel Martires and Quilala upon “direct instructions” of former President Rodrigo Duterte and Sara Duterte.
However, Martires denied the allegations made by Madriaga against him.
