The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series launched earlier this month rocking the latest One UI 7 (based on Android) out-of-the-box.

Sadly, for older Samsung phone users, including the Galaxy S24 line, it could still take a while before they get the newest update.

A new rumor, backed by a well-known Chinese leaker, suggests that the stable One UI 7 update for older devices might not roll out until April at the earliest.

This delay is apparently due to Samsung’s plan to conduct more beta tests prior to the final release. There will be one in March and another in April, then users might see the stable update shortly after.

Samsung has built a reputation in recent years for its fast software rollouts, often leading the pack in delivering Android updates right after Google. But this year, the company has dropped the ball, leaving many Galaxy users frustrated.

The stable One UI 7 update has yet to reach a single Galaxy device.

Furthermore, in a recent interview, a Samsung exec revealed why the rollout is taking so long. Sally, the EVP and Head of the Framework R&D Team at Samsung Mobile eXperience explained that it took two to three years of planning for One UI 7.

Unlike previous updates that were pushed out annually, Samsung wanted to take a big leap with this version, making sure it was “more impactful”. The extended planning period allowed them to make significant improvements, but apparently, it also delayed the release.

To make matters worse, Google is set to launch Android 16 stable release in June. So, if the One UI 7 update comes in April. It’s unclear how long it’ll take for Samsung to update its devices to Android 16 after that.
