ILOILO CITY,Philippines — Robbers used an open drainage system to access a mall in Pavia town in Iloilo and steal over P30 million worth of jewelry and cash on Wednesday.

Col. Bayani Razalan, Iloilo provincial police chief, said the robbers, believed to be six members of the Termite Gang, hammered the floor of the mall to gain entry to a jewelry store and a money exchange shop and steal jewelry and P868,000 in cash.

Based on CCTV footage, three men entered the establishment at 3:10 a.m. on Dec. 17.

“We are not discounting the possibility that it was an inside job. They could have gotten information from within. Maybe one of their members is a person who knows the ins and outs of the mall,” Razalan said.
