DAVAO CITY — A monthlong series of intensive anti-drug operations conducted by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) throughout April resulted in a significant seizure of illegal drugs valued at P7.4 million, the city's acting police director reported on Friday.
Col. Hansel Marantan, acting DCPO director, said the city's police units carried out 122 anti-illegal drug operations dur-ing the month, resulting in the arrest of 153 individuals involved in various drug-related activities.
The authorities also confiscated about 1,093 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P7.43 million, and 566.6 grams of marijuana valued at P67,995.
Consequently, authorities filed approximately 188 cases in court against the arrested drug suspects.
"The Davao City Police Office remains steadfast in its commitment to serve with the utmost sincerity, ensuring the safety and security of our city and its residents," said Marantan in a statement.

In addition to its anti-drug efforts, the DCPO also conducted 66 operations targeting illegal gambling during the same period. These operations led to the arrest of 84 individuals involved in gambling activities and the confiscation of P21,912 in bet money.
Subsequently, 66 cases were filed in court against those apprehended for illegal gambling.
2 fall in Butuan drug sting
Two drug pushers were arrested and approximately 250 grams of shabu worth P1.7 million were seized during a buy-bust operation on Thursday evening in Butuan City.
In a report released Friday, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) identified the arrested suspects as "Jibby," 32, a resident of Barangay 1, Cabadbaran City, and "Jason," 38, resident of Barangay Dona Rosario, Tubay, Agu-san del Norte.
"The suspects were placed under close surveillance by our operatives following a credible tip from a concerned local informant indicating their involvement in the illegal drug trade," PRO-13 director BGen. Christopher Abrahano was quoted in the statement as saying.
The two arrested individuals are currently in the custody of the Butuan City Police Office, awaiting the formal filing of criminal charges against them.
"They will face charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale, Trading, Administration, Dispensation, Delivery, Distribution and Transportation of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002," Abrahano said.
