MANILA, Philippines — Suspected smuggled cigarettes valued at P980 million were seized in Mandaue City, Cebu on Thursday, according to the Bureau of Customs.
The BOC said the contraband was found in 25 shipping containers parked at a private wharf.
The anti-smuggling operation was conducted in coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation and the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the agency remains resolute in its campaign against the illicit tobacco trade and all forms of smuggling.
