MANILA, Philippines — Pag-IBIG Fund’s Loyalty Card program has breached the P1-billion mark in discounts given to members as it widened its network to 507 partner establishments.
In a statement, the fund said that Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card and Loyalty Card Plus issuance have reached 15.17 million, with cumulative discounts granted to members totaling P1.01 billion. Since its launch, it has also facilitated 30.66 million discounted transactions.
“The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus is a prime example of how public-private partnerships can work to provide practical and relevant daily benefits to Filipino workers,” Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said.
Aliling, who chairs the 11-member board of trustees, said this program is more crucial amid the global uncertainty, helping members make the most of their hard-earned income.
Of the mentioned 507 partners, the fund said 189 are in health and medicine, 114 are in food, restaurants, and groceries, 20 are in housing-related establishments, and five are in fuel and transportation.
The program spans 162 partners in the National Capital Region, 155 in Luzon, 55 in Visayas and 85 in Mindanao.
Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta said the program is set to enter its next phase with the release of the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus Digital this year.
”As we roll out the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus Digital within the year, alongside the continued availability of the physical card, we are making the program more accessible, more secure, and more convenient for more Filipinos,” she said.
The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card was first rolled out in 2014 to give members access to discounts and special offers from partner merchants.
This was followed by Loyalty Card Plus, which added cash card features through Asia United Bank and UnionBank of the Philippines, allowing members to receive loan proceeds and access basic banking services in 2019.
“In doing so, Pag-IBIG Fund also supports the Marcos administration’s efforts to advance financial inclusion by bringing practical financial services and everyday savings within easier reach of our members,” Acosta added.
Based on the 2021 Financial Inclusion Survey of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Filipino adults with bank accounts more than doubled to 42.9 million in 2021 from 20.9 million, translating to an additional 22 million accounts opened between 2019 and 2021.
