MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has launched a new app that can give timely weather alerts to users.
During the observance of the Typhoon and Flood Awareness Week, the state weather bureau launched yesterday the PAGASA National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network or PANaHON mobile app, which features an interactive map with near real-time weather data and access to hydrometeorological information.
Users can receive timely notifications directly on their mobile device, including tropical cyclone bulletins, thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warnings and flood advisories.
By allowing location access, users can receive notifications of possible warnings or alerts in the vicinity and alerts are received relevant to the areas of interest.
Hourly forecasts and a five-day weather outlook feature allow users to check the latest weather in their pinned locations.
PAGASA assured the public that the app abides by the Data Privacy Act.
The PANaHON app can be downloaded for free on Android from the Google Play Store or iOS from the Apple App Store.
