World's 50 Best Beaches
MANILA, Philippines — Entalula Beach in Palawan has been named the best beach in the world for its majestic cliffs, clear water and amazing seclusion, according to a global list released on Tuesday.
Described as Palawan’s “overlooked slice of heaven,” the Entalula was voted by more than 1,000 travel industry professionals worldwide.
“It is set apart by its towering limestone cliffs that rise sharply behind a stretch of soft white sand, creating one of the most visually striking settings in the region and the world,” the World’s 50 Best Beaches stated.
The list described the water in Entalula as exceptionally clear, with calm conditions that make swimming easier.
“With access only by boat, it remains quieter and helps preserve its more natural feel,” it added.
Entalula Beach is joined by Fteri Beach in Greece, Wharton Beach in Australia, Nosy Iranja in Madagascar and East Beach on Vomo Island in Fiji in the world’s top five list.
Meanwhile, Kalanggaman Island in Leyte also made it to The World’s 50 Best Beaches, ranking 25th.
“Kalanggaman Island in the Philippines is known for its long, narrow sandbar that stretches into the open water at both ends,” the description read.
The thin strip of white sand, bordered by clear, shallow water on either side with stunning ocean views in every direction, offers calm, natural and undisturbed shores for visitors.
The island is also known for its iconic sandbar that is shaped like langgam, a local word for bird or fowl.
The World’s 50 Best Beaches are ranked based on their unique characteristics, wildlife, untouched nature, natural soundtrack, ease of entry into the water, frequency of calm conditions and consistency of idyllic settings.
