'Part of the journey': David Licauco admits doing business involves taking risks

MANILA, Philippines — Actor David Licauco admitted that doing business involved risks but it is part of the journey.

During his recent contract signing with business processing and consulting firm GSC Inc., David said business owners need to take a risk for their businesses to thrive. 

“And cliché as it may sound, taking risks in business can mean — and impact — so much. It’s part of the entire journey," David said.

“Kapag nagsisimula kang mag-negosyo, you just wanna take risks. Kailangan mong tumalon para malaman what’s out there. Pero mas maganda kung calculated risks,” he added.

David also admitted that doing business is impossible if you do it alone.

“Nag-start din talaga ako sa negosyo ko na ako lang talaga. From scratch talaga. Siguro iniisip nung iba na may partner ako pero actually wala. Ako lang talaga,” he said.

“Kailangan mong humingi ng tulong. Admittedly, akala ko nung una, kaya ko. ‘Yun pala, kailangan ko rin ng tulong.”

Apart from acting in front of a camera, David also owns food concepts and restaurants. These include Sobra Cafe and Kuya Korea. 

Brand executives praised David for his business style.

“Si David is a good example of a smart businessman. At a young age, hindi lahat ng celebrity ay nakakapag-negosyo o may lakas ng loob na mag-negosyo. Very inspiring si David. Nagbi-business siya while focusing on his showbiz career,” the company said. 

Founded in 2016, the company focuses on business registration, compliance services, Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) licensing, consultations, and audit facilitation.
