MANILA, Philippines — After the video of a motorist and a traffic enforcer arguing about a faded yellow traffic line went viral online, Pasay suspended the apprehension of traffic law violators along Roxas Boulevard near the Edsa Heritage Flyover while the city government works on restoring faded road markings.
The pause comes after John Francis Arroyo and a traffic enforcer argued on Wednesday night on the existence of a double yellow line.
“Pasay City, your enforcers are saying there’s a yellow lane here. But how will you enforce this if you can’t see the yellow lane?” Arroyo told the enforcer.
“There!” the enforcer shouted. “I’m just correcting your mistake.”
Pasay confirmed there are faded road signs, saying “markings have been affected by extreme heat, passing vehicles and previous road works.”
Jun Tadios, Pasay public information officer, told The STAR that the city has written several times to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the Department of Public Works and Highways about the fading road signs.
