PBA: Cameron Clark shines in Converge debut but still settling in

MANILA, Philippines–Converge may have found the right mix in terms of its import situation following a winning debut from Cameron Clark against Terrafirma in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

But Clark, who posted 22 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the 120-103 victory, would rather take slow steps as he continues to try and fit right in with the talent-stacked squad.

“I’m going to try my best,” the “balik-import” said at Ynares Center in Antipolo. “They called me for a job here. I’m going to give my all every time I go on the court and in practice.

“[But] it’s still early [and I’m] still trying to get acclimated with the team and building that chemistry. But I’m here to do whatever we need to do to get some wins,” Clark added.

His first game coincided with the FiberXers snapping a four-game skid to improve to 4-4 and solidify their place inside the top four spots in Group A.

Clark came in after replacing Jamaal Franklin, who lost all three appearances as Converge’s second import. Franklin was initially tapped after the FiberXers gave Jalen Hudson the pink slip.

The Converge stint was the fourth PBA stop for Clark, after suiting up for NLEX, San Miguel Beer and guest team Hong Kong Eastern.

Clark actually arrived from Hong Kong where he has been playing for Eastern the past two seasons, including its title run in this year’s domestic league and the campaign in the East Asia Super League.

“It’s been two days [since I arrived], but we started off with a great win,” said Clark. “It’s just building each and every day.”

Converge faces group leader NLEX next on Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum, its final game before the league takes a long break that lasts until the first week of October.
