PBA: Converge hopes to snap out of slump with Cameron Clark in tow

MANILA, Philippines–Slumping Converge tapped a familiar name in Cameron Clark as its latest import in a move aimed at improving the squad’s fortunes in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Team governor Archen Cayabyab confirmed that Clark arrived on Sunday as a replacement for Jamaal Franklin, whose return with the FiberXers lasted just three games, all ending in defeats.

Clark was brought in after Franklin’s supposed replacement, Travin Thibodaux, went past the maximum height limit of 6-foot-6.

“That’s why we had to make a decision immediately,” Cayabyab said.

The 34-year-old is no stranger to the league as he is set for his fourth stint, with Converge being his third PBA team.

He made his debut with NLEX back in the 2022 Governors’ Cup before suiting up for San Miguel Beer during the 2023 Governors’ Cup.

His most-recent campaign was in the 2024-25 Commissioner’s Cup when he reinforced the guest participation of Hong Kong Eastern.

The FiberXers made the change after a 3-0 start was followed by four consecutive defeats, dropping to a tie for fourth with the Terrafirma Dyip, ironically their next opponent and Clark’s debut on Tuesday at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Franklin was Converge’s second import after taking over from original choice Jalen Hudson.
