MANILA, Philippines–The controversial John Amores is set for a PBA return after signing a contract with Titan Ultra two days before the start of the Governors’ Cup.
Titan Ultra made the announcement on Wednesday after Amores had his professional license reinstated by the Games and Amusements Board.
Amores signed the deal before Giant Risers team manager Jessica Arsolon and agent Danny Espiritu.
He is set to see action once more after being suspended by the PBA and his GAB license revoked after figuring in a shooting incident over a bet following a pick-up game in his home province of Laguna in 2024.
At the time, Amores was a rookie for the NorthPort Batang Pier.
It was the second time Amores was in hot water after he was the principal figure in the punching incident while playing for Jose Rizal University in an NCAA game against College of St. Benilde in 2022.
Despite the ban, Amores’ rights were absorbed by Titan Ultra after acquiring NorthPort’s franchise last year.
Titan Ultra will see action in Friday’s opener against Terrafirma at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
