RODRIGUEZ, Rizal—Titan Ultra succumbed to a second straight defeat to start its PBA Governors’ Cup campaign after playing sans an import and setting a record for futility.
The Giant Risers lost 105-74 at Ynares Center Montalban here without import James Milton, who has yet to secure a clearance that will allow him to play in the season-ending conference.
Adding insult was Titan Ultra missing all 17 of its three-point attempts during the first half that saw coach Rensy Bajar’s squad trail 50-26.
That clip erased the previous record of 15 by Rain or Shine during a loss to TNT in the 2015 Governors’ Cup.
Titan’s 74-point output is also the lowest in its young participation in the big league.
Fran Yu and rookie Bryan Sajonia scored 14 points apiece for the Giant Risers in the defeat even as Joshua Munzon was held to six points on 2-of-10 shooting.
Munzon recently had his contract automatically extended until the end of the season after he became a subject of trade talks prior to the start of the conference.
Titan will next face unbeaten NLEX on Tuesday in Antipolo, as it hopes to avoid another setback.
The Giant Risers opened the conference last Friday with a 113-100 loss to the Terrafirma Dyip.
