PBA: Titan Ultra fends off Macau for second win

MANILA, Philippines–Titan Ultra survived a furious Macau comeback after squandering a 29-point lead to escape with a 132-128 win in the 2026 PBA Governors’ Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Tuesday.

The Giant Risers appeared headed for a comfortable victory with a 66-37 lead in the second quarter before the Giant Pandas caught fire in the fourth and threatened to pull off an unlikely comeback.

“We started strong, especially in the first quarter, we may have relaxed in some points of the game and we knew Macau would come back,” coach Rensy Bajar said.

“Like what happened to us in the previous games, all of a sudden our opponents would come out strong late in the game.”

Titan Ultra suffered a scare early in the fourth when rookie Mark Omega had to be stretchered off the court because of an apparent back injury with 11:07 remaining.

From there, Macau chipped away at what was once a 15-point deficit, cutting Titan Ultra’s lead to 122-113 on a De’Vondre Perry basket with 6:19 left.

Ato Ular halted the Giant Pandas’ rally with a mid-range jumper to restore an 11-point cushion, 124-113, with 4:58 remaining, en route to their second victory along with five losses.

The Giant Risers turned to import Tirrell Brown, who finished just three assists shy of a triple-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds and seven dimes. Joshua Munzon registered 18 points while Roi Sumang and Bryan Sajonia chipped in 14 and 13, respectively.

Perry dominated for Macau, which had its winning streak snapped at two, with 45 points and 14 rebounds in a losing effort. Ramon Cao had a double-double himself, with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Damian Chong Qui and Jeffrey Ma also had 18 each in the defeat.
