MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said Barangay Ginebra team governor Alfrancis Chua hurled unpleasant words at him at the end of Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.
Guiao was hardly in a celebratory mood after Rain or Shine’s 97-85 win at Smart Araneta Coliseum as he and Chua figured in a verbal spat moments after the final buzzer.
“From afar, tinawag niya ‘kong ‘ul*l,’” said Guiao. “We had a back and forth. I think a lot of people witnessed that. I was just asking him to stop talking to the referees and from afar, he just screamed at me.”

“I feel, as a governor, it’s not his job to keep talking to the referees in that way. [It’s] intimidating. Our governor never did that. Ang layo ng behavior.”
Guiao and Chua were already exchanging words as early as the first quarter.
The two had to be separated midway through the opening period after a heated confrontation on the sidelines.

According to Guiao, all he wanted was for Chua to keep his composure on the sidelines and leave the complaining to the Ginebra coaching staff.
The former Gilas Pilipinas coach added that he felt it was unbecoming for a team governor to constantly bark at game officials.
“Maybe coaches and assistants can complain but I feel, in terms of demeanor and tactics, if they can suppress their emotions, they should just leave that to their coaching staff and to the players if they want to complain.”
