MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has boosted the healthcare system of Aklan by turning over two patient transport vehicles and medical equipment worth P26.5 million to the provincial government and a hospital.

The turnover was led by PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles, with Aklan Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores receiving the donation in behalf of the province.

The vehicles will help improve patient mobility and emergency medical response, particularly in geographically isolated and underserved communities.

Among the beneficiaries is the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital, which received a low-temperature plasma sterilizer, fully automated PCR system, four ventilators and an anesthesia machine.

PCSO officials said the equipment would help strengthen the hospital’s diagnostic, surgical, infection control and critical care capabilities.

During the turnover, Robles emphasized that PCSO’s healthcare programs are intended to benefit people and communities regardless of political affiliation.

“We do not look at our charitable programs from a political perspective. The President’s instruction is clear: healthcare should not be politicized. That is precisely what we are putting into practice and implementing today,” Robles said as he underscored the need to ensure access to quality healthcare services for low-income Filipinos.

Aside from the medical equipment and transport vehicles, the province also received its share from PCSO lotto revenues amounting to P363,914.26, covering the period from July to December 2025.

The funds will be used to support local government programs including health-related initiatives and other public services.

Miraflores thanked the PCSO for the assistance, saying it will help improve healthcare delivery and expand access to medical services for Aklan residents.
