COTABATO CITY — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12 seized P1 million worth of shabu from two dealers from Maguindanao del Sur province in the Bangsamoro region, entrapped in Maasim town in Sarangani province in Region 12 on Friday, Junr 5.

Charlene Magdurulang, director of PDEA 12, told reporters on Sunday that the suspects, Ebrahim, 43, and his 46-year-old accomplice, Akmad, are both from Barangay Muti in Guindulungan, one of the 24 towns in Maguindanao del Sur, a component province of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Agents of PDEA 12 and operatives from different units of the Police Regional Office 12 have conducted separate entrapment operations in various cities and towns in Region 12, resulting in the arrest of more than 10 shabu dealers from BARMM’s neighboring Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte provinces since last year.

Magdurulang said Ebrahim and Akmad were immediately arrested by agents and policemen after selling shabu to them during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Mangelen, Barangay Kamanga, Maasim on Friday, with the help of officials of PRO 12 and tipsters aware of their drug trafficking activities in Sarangani, one of the four provinces in Region 12.

PDEA 12 agents had confiscated from the duo 150 grams of shabu worth P1 million, according to Magdurulang.

Besides shabu, PDEA 12 agents and operatives from PRO12 units who supported the entrapment operation also impounded their dark grey pick-up truck, which they allegedly used in delivering shabu from Maguindanao del Sur to retailers in different towns in Region 12’s adjoining South Cotabato and Sarangani provinces, according to the confidential informants who helped entrap them in Sitio Mangelen, Barangay Kamanga.

Magdurulang said the suspects are now detained in a police facility, awaiting prosecution for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
