CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A person of interest in the murder of a former legal officer of the Department of Education-Palawan was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm in Puerto Princesa City on Monday.

Allan Tucay, 48, was collared after police found an unlicensed pistol and ammunition during a raid on his house in Barangay Tagburos.

The raid, which was conducted at around 3:30 a.m., was based on a search warrant issued by a local court, according to Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua Jr., Mimaropa police director.

The firearm and ammunition were turned over to the Palawan police forensics unit for cross-matching and ballistic examination.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were filed against the suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Tucay was tagged in the murder of lawyer Joshua Abrina, who was shot dead in front of his home in Puerto Princesa City on Sept. 17.
