MANILA, Philippines — Cybercrime investigators have identified the people who posted on their social media accounts a fraudulent medical bulletin supposedly detailing President Marcos’ health condition.
Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said they have identified the people who uploaded the fake document on their social media platforms, but declined to identify them or give details on their identities.
“So far I cannot disclose because the support investigation of our concerned agency is not finished yet,” he said at a press conference.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. earlier ordered the ACG to unmask the people behind the spread on social media of the fake medical bulletin supposedly coming from St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC).
“This is really disrespectful, insensitive and a gross violation of the law,” Nartatez said in a statement.
Asueta has formed a team of police officers who are coordinating with SLMC and other agencies.
The hospital has denied issuing a medical bulletin and called the document fake.
“I already assigned them to collaborate and cooperate with other agencies responsible for this investigation,” he said.
